Jobber - A trader who trades for small, short-term profits in the route of a trading session, seldom carrying a position overnight.

Japanese Economy Watchers Survey - Measures the mood of businesses that straightforwardly service consumers such drivers, waiters, and beauticians. Readings above 50 normally signal improvements in sentiment.

Japanese Machine Tool Orders - Measures the whole value of latest orders placed with machine tool manufactures. Machine tool orders are a measure of the demand for machines that create machines, a leading marker of future industrial production. Strong data normally signals that manufacturing is improving and that the economy is in an expansion part.

K

K - A Nasdaq stock symbol denoting that the stock has no voting rights

Kiwi - Slang for the New Zealand dollar.

L

Leading Indicators - Statistic that are considered to precede changes in economic growth rates and total business activity, e.g. factory orders.

Leverage - The amount, expressed as a multiple, by which the notional amount traded exceeds the margin required to trade. For example, if the notional amount traded (also referred to as the "lot size” or “contract value”) is $100,000 and the required margin is $2,000, the trader can trade with 50 times leverage ($100,000/$2,000).

LIBOR - It is the London Inter-Bank Offered Rate. Banks make use of LIBOR when borrowing from another bank.

Liability - In terms of foreign exchange , the obligation to deliver to a counterparty an amount of currency either in respect of a balance sheet holding at a specified future date or in respect of an un-matured forward or spot transaction.

Limit order - A request to deal as a buyer or seller for a foreign currency transaction at a specified price, or at a better price, if obtainable.

Liquidation - Any transaction that offsets or closes out a previously established position.

Liquidity - The ability of a market to accept large transactions.

Long - See long position.

Long position - A position that appreciates in price if market prices increase. When the base currency in the pair is bought, the place is said to be long.

Lot - It is a unit to measure the amount of the deal. The value of the agreement always corresponds to an integer number of lots.
